Revitalizing Historic Urban Quarters

After the Second Opium War in 1860, Tianjin have to open to The imperialist countries. Different industries and different size of the store been coming . The Xiaobailou concession district as the core of the United States and British concession,became flourish and become famous Castle of the commercial district gradually. Until the liberation, and The Xiaobailou district is still the traditional commercial district as famous as Quangyechang in Tianjin. The Renovation and Transformation of Xiaobailou District in Tianjin, started with "315 comprehensive environmental project" in 2008 , until "1902 European landscape Street" opened in 2009, all buildings along the street have been refurbished, and formats have been adjusted,The Xiaobailou's economic vigor have been renewed. However, there is still a large number of people live in the civil construction, waiting eagerly for the transformation .This problem need to solve in the next time.Based on reality and development,the dissertation that focus on the Xiaobailou District and historic buildings of this city,tried to analyzes the renovation in developing Tianjin.First of all,on the basis of the collation,inspection and analysis of the characterization of history and culture of the Xiaobailou District,accurate reviews about positive and problems of the Xiaobailou District Renovation was given by the author,by using various methods such as historical investigation,case analysis,comparative study and systematic research,combining with the survey about the project and the summarized of the related theory at home and abroad as well.While the Renovation stimulating economic growth in Tianjin and improving the living conditions of residents,problems is researched such as the thoughtless in new building design and Social equity.Then,the cause of renovation and difficulty of the Xiaobailou District's protection are analyzed.Finally,from concept and practice level,further research about the future of the Xiaobailou District is continued,about that,the concept of sustainable development and the humanist should be insisted,and the strategy should be focus on human being,activities and places.Vitality which in Xiaobailou District will be regained from the reality.
