Digital Technology In Architectural Design Research

Coming into the age of information, digital technology is widely used in the professional field of design. With the increasing complexity of the requirements of building design, computer technology has integrated into the architectural design, from simply using software instead of the original pen and paper, to the later usage of three-dimensional modeling software, and now reaching the combination of architectural design and computer algorithms. Generally speaking, computer technology in the field of architectural design application is increasingly widespread and in-depth.This thesis represents a particular case of digital technology applications in architectural design, by computer-aided architectural design and parametric design methods, it combines computer science and architecture effectively together. The paper content is designed a building named "air house" which on the roof of Queen Elizabeth Hall in the central London, as architectural design cannot be separated from the surrounding environment considerations, this project takes into account the surrounding ambient noise and natural illumination. Specifically speaking, in the first part, through the surrounding environment noise analysis, the air house design takes a noise control method which acts in propagation process, take the foundation, a Venetian-style building skin has been produced, then through the parametric design method in three-dimensional modeling, which implemented in Rhino, and accomplished the construction of the parent design. Secondly, carried on the lighting analysis on the basis of daylight factor theory and then completed the distribution of the air house interior design. The last part of this thesis is conducted structural analysis and design to the building model, it based on the theories of civil engineering load and basic structure forms, and then, it has completed the specific design of the interior, so finished the overall design of the air house.
