| Based on large-scale survey data of urban school facilities in Chaohu city in 2009, conducting a performance assessment of school facilities in the urban area from the aspects of service's space coverage, the actual scope of services, choice, equity and service satisfaction, this paper analyzed the characteristics and needs of urban school facilities. The main conclusions are drawn as follows:(1) Space coverage of Urban school facilities in Chaohu City is on the low side, with big disparity between urban and rural area, obvious developing distinction among districts. And it is directly related to the mode of low-cost expansion of urban space (2) Under the influence of quality of education, which is proved to be the dominant selection factors, school facilities near home or in the scope of school district to which home belongs cannot satisfy demands for school selection. As a result, the actual scope of services generally beyond the planned one;(3) There is an unequal distribution of high-level quality school facilities among communities in different social strata, expressed in the trend of those high-level resources concentrated to families in higher social stratum. (4)The overall evaluation of satisfaction of service of school facilities is at a low level. Concerning upgrade of spatial service performance, the paper proposed a set of strategies and policies. |
