Beijing HongKong and Macao Expressway is G4 in the national highway networ k, This expressway is China's the most important northsouth trans-port corridor. The r apid growth of traffic volume, service level tends to saturation after the expressway o pened. considering its important roles it plays in economic construction of our country and from a long-term development point,the expressway will be rebuilt.This paper bases on fully understand the situation and the prospective traffic volu me forecast of Beijing HongKong and Macao expressway to analysis various advantag es and disadvantages of subgrade and pavement widening with applicable conditions, d etermined by both sides from Four-lane road to eight-lane road after multivariant com parison, the general road with both sides directly, pavement were 30cm,140cm,30cm with splicing. Interchange is a traffic node of expressway, so that its renovation and e xpansion design is particularly important. There are two programs with reserved or no n reserved in this paper, bases on its influencing factor in detail, there is a Terminal Interchange as an example to narration. Along with the terrain and feature conditions, project scale and investment, traffic organization before or after built, decided to the " 3+2" in the form of separation widen. Taking the large traffic volume of Beijing-Hon g Kong and Macao expressway into consideration, ought to minimize the impact on e xisting traffic flow and ease traffic pressure on the local road network, so that the de sign of traffic organization during construction is a top priority. Through the analysis of traffic feature in a construction section, with the principles of traffic organizational design, a series of security measures are taken to ensure the continuity of traffic and safe driving during construction.This paper provides a strong basis for highway renovation and expansion design, some conclusions also apply to other reconstruction project in the future.
