The Application Of Traditional Village Concept In Modern Communities Design

Under the background of the globalization, modern communities are facing a series of problems, such as simplified mode, similar construction, severe atmosphere, apathetic person relations, gradually disappeared geographical features and so on. But traditional settlement, even after thousands of years' development, still keeps its complete functionality system and abundant vitality. This thesis primarily chose the hilly district in Lunan (Southern Shandong Province) from the traditional settlements as research object, and tried to find out its positive factors which will be enlightenedly helpful for the modern settlement design.Compared with modern communities, regarding the problems which traditional settlements show out, such as obviously regional characteristics, harmonious interpersonal relationship, etc. According to the measurement, mapping in Lunan hilly district, combined with related literature research, compared with other regions' settlements, based on the local inspection, the location environment chosen, layout features, main public space, yard layout features were discussed. Their positive factors such as location chosen, yard morphology, physical atmosphere, construction technology, village afforestation were excavated. Researching results displayed that traditional settlements have strongly geographical & climatic adaptability and lively Lunan characteristics on the aspects of integration with the surrounding environment, layout of structure, construction of public space, layout of compound and application of eco-technology, etc. With regard to modern settlements development, inhabitant mental features, behavior requirement, habitation manner character, modern settlements can be established in an regional distinguish character from the following five aspects:planning of village layout and modern settlements structure, combination of the yard space and modern settlements, design of traditional architecture mode und modern residence elevation, utilization and evolution of traditional construction technology, reference of Lunan district traditional settlements in landscape ecology design.
