Mechatronic mervo system of spacecraft works in the conditions of high-impact, high-inertia, short-term overload. The load capacity and dynamic performance of general harmonic drive can not satisfy the demand of high-load, high stiffness, high response, special performance of mechatronic mervo system. Therefore, it is urgently needed to research a large-load capacity and good-dynamic performance of harmonic drive. In this paper, the static and dynamic mechanical properties of harmonic gear were analyzed in order to find combination of factors which affected load capacity and dynamic performance of harmonic drive, so as to provide theories for improving its carrying capacity and dynamic performance.The abaqus software was applied to establish finite element model of harmonic drive.Through the finite element assembly simulation of harmonic drive, the static and dynamic mechanical properties of harmonic gear were obtained in order to verify the theory of flexspline deformation function, and identified the risk profile of flexspline.When the flexspline was applied by static load, the simulation obtained the deformation and stress distribution in the conditions of no-load and static-load in order to reveals bearing characteristic of flexspline under static loading.Finally, on the basis of the simulation the critical structural parameters of flexspline was tried to change to study comprehensive performance of flexspline in order to obtain the main factors on load capacity, fatigue life and the composite stiffness.The whole harmonic dynamic assembling was applied to study external input on its dynamic mechanical properties. The various load conditions (load size, load frequency and load waveforms) and the input form (input frequency, the input waveform and the input speed) on the deformation, stress and time-varying characteristics of flexspline and dynamic response of harmonic drive was obtained.Based on the above research, Lumped parameter model was used to build dynamic equation of harmonic gear drive. S function was applied to build compiled elastic deformation function of flexspline. Simulink simulator was applied to solve harmonic drive the numerical solution of nonlinear differential equation.The results validated the accuracy of the dynamic model, which provided theoretical basis for dynamic characteristic analysis of the harmonic drive.
