China is a large clothing manufacturing country, and clothing "Made in China" is available everywhere. Since the 1990s, China's clothing industry has gradually developed from the backward conditions of low added value, low branding and weak competitiveness to the emphasis on own brands. But Chinese men's designer brands are not as world-famous as the foreign ones, and some are even unknown. China's economic growth, the perfection of market, the growing clothing industry scale and the change of consumption concept of menswear consumers have laid a solid foundation for the development of Chinese men's designer brands. However, the development orientation and method are always being pondered by Chinese menswear industry. With the above questions, this Paper probes into the roads to the development of Chinese men's designer brands through the analysis of current conditions of Chinese and foreign men's designer brands. Based on the theoretical knowledge of communication, consumer behavior, management and other related disciplines, this Paper compares Chinese and foreign men's designer brands from the perspective of different disciplines for the valuable experience of excellent foreign designer brands. It provides necessary basis for the follow-up researchers in this field. It also points out the differences between the present Chinese men's designer brands and successful foreign ones, draws upon successful experiences of the latter and gives theoretical and practical advices on the road to the future development of Chinese men's designer brands. And the author made a survey on the Chinese and foreign designers and consumers via questionnaires to provide information to support this Paper.
