China and Japan are neighboring countries. The two coutries'special geographical position determines that many environmental problems need them to jointly face and solve. The environmental cooperation between China and Japan has a long history. Reviewing their environmental cooperation in the past nearly forty years, the two countries have formed mature mechanisms and achieved remarkable results. The Japanese Democratic Party won the election victory on August 30,2009. As environmental cooperation belongs to government-oriented cooperation, the Democratic Party's policy toward China and Sino-Japanese relations and the Democratic Party's international environmental policy and environmental policy toward China appear particularly important. The analysis of the Democratic Party's environmental policy and policies toward China is expected to provide a little learning for China's environmental cooperation with Japan during the Democratic Party's governance. After the Democratic Party takes power, Sino-Japanese environmental cooperation proceed steadily. China and Japan carry out positive and effective cooperation in the bilateral, multilateral and global environmental cooperation dimension. However, some problems still exist in the Sino-Japanese environmental cooperation. For this, China should take positive strategies. In the long run, after the Democratic Party takes power, the prospect of Sino-Japanese environmental cooperation is promising. China and Japan should promote cooperation in the following areas, such as the environmental protection technologies, the environmental protection industries and Japan's Fukushima nuclear leakage accident and so on. Sino-Japanese environmental cooperation will make a contribution for the regional and global environmental protection.
