Typhoon is an extremely destructive weather system.China locates in the Pacific Northwest where typhoon occurs most frequently. At the same time,China is one of the countries which are subject to frequent typhoons in the world.The visualization of typhoon process can realize the expression of dynamic typhoon process,which provides an easy way for public to understand the influence and changes of typhoon.Furthermore visualization is an approach for analysis and it offers an effective technical method for the defense of typhoon.Component-GIS(ComGIS)and Web-GIS(WebGIS)are two important aspects of GIS.Traditional geography information system is divided into many functional modules in ComGIS and ComGIS offers developing method based on component. WebGIS not only provides the basic functions of GIS but also has an advantage in information release and data sharing.This paper studied how to realize the dynamic visualization of typhoon process, how to realize the realase of typhoon warning information and how to design and implement a typhoon process dynamic visualization and early warning information relsase system.Considering the limitations of the visualization of typhoon process and the release of typhoon early warning information at present,this research analysed the features of typhoon process and selected a few of symbols for its visualization.Furthermore,the feasibility of using GIS to realize the visualization of typhoon process and using modern communications techniques to achieve the release of typhoon early warning information was discussed.As an example,a typhoon information system of Fujian with excellent visual effectiveness and rapid running speed in both server-side and clien-side was developped.According to the specifications of software engineering,this article analyzed the feasibility and user demands of this system.Then hierarchical levels of the system were defined and the functions of the system were determined.And at last,the system's structure model,function,principle, technique,development platform and runtime environment were analysed in detail.This system will provide a strong technological support for the avoiding of typhoon disaster and decreasing of disaster loss.
