Global change has been the most active field of study these years, net primary production (NPP) and biodiversity are both key components of the studies of global change. The great development and application of remote sensing promote the vegetation indices to a key study too. NPP is the material foundation for other members of the ecosystem; biodiversity is the foundation for sustainable development of mankind; vegetation indices can characterize the status of vegetation, there is close relationship among them. NPP has developed many study techniques and models with the help of the remote sensing. Thus, the study of relationship among NPP, biodiversity and vegetation indices is important to the ecological progresses.This study chose Kunyu National Nature Reserve as the study area, first calculates vegetation indices, then estimated NPP with the modified CASA model, and calculate biodiversity of the quadrat and the area, finally analyze the statistic relationships among NPP, vegetation indices and biodiversity.The NPP simulated value is generally high, the peak appears in the center of the study area that is the core area of Kunyu National Nature Reserve.On the landscape pattern, forest has the highest average NPP, followed by farmland and grassland, respectively, water has the lowest average NPP. Forest contributes the biggest total NPP, followed by farm and bare land, the minimum contribution is water.Mean NPP increases with altitude, while total NPP first increases then decrease. With the change of slope, mean NPP only show little fluctuation, while total NPP decrease. Mean and total NPP don't change significantly with aspect.The relationship between biodiversity of the quadrat and specific vegetation index is well. The biodiversity calculated by different atmospheric model show basically same values and trend.Three kinds of biodiversity all show positively correlated with NPP. The best correlation is biodiversity calculated by dark atmospheric correction, followed by FLAASH and 6S atmospheric correction.There is a certain correlation between vegetation indices and NPP. But different indices and different atmospheric correction method show different correlation with NPP. The vegetation indices calculated by FLAASH atmospheric correction have the best correlation with NPP, while 6S atmospheric correction is worst; Temperature vegetation index TNDVI has the best correlation with NPP, while DVI is worst; IRON OXIDE index show a negative correlation with NPP.
