Matrix PDC bits have been used more and more in the oil drilling and coal drilling fields etc for their advantages of long life and high efficiency. However, the poor wear resistance and unstable radius retention effect in drilling hard stratum lead to the PDC bit can not applied in hard stratum. So how to design gauge structure according to different stratum is a most important Research direction of PDC bit. The friction and wear performance characteristics between diamond and rock, matrix and rock, chip and matrix, were analyzed in this paper. And the different performance of wear resistance were compared,which are creteaded by the different Polycrystalline Diamond parameters, diamond parameters and matrix . From experimental results ,we have summarized the best design scheme and give Further improvements according to field experiment.The main content includes several respects as follows:1) The drilling mechanism of PDC bit was discussed. The friction and wear performance characteristics between PDC and rock, matrix and rock, chip and matrix, were analyzed in this paper. Found out the researching direction for PDC bit which would be used to drilling in hard stratum .That would direct the design the gauge structure of PDC bit.2) The advantage and disadvantage of common gauge structure of PDC bit was compared. How to design arrangement of Polycrystalline Diamond, diamond parameters and matrix formula were discussed.3) According to a series of tests, the factors such as which arrangement of Polycrystalline Diamond, diamond parameters and matrix formula can influence matrix wear-resistance were compared and Summarize the best design scheme. 4) The father area of this research are refered in the paper. This design schemecan be used in welded diamond reamer. The development of the design will bring to an innovation of welded diamond reamer.
