Abstract/Summary:
The supplier management is always an important part in supply chain management (SCM) area. The impact of supply chain management has changed the relationship between the supplier and the purchaser, shifting from hostility to closer cooperation. In the recent years, previous studies of supplier management focused mostly on such situations when enterprises and their suppliers had stable relationship. Moreover, it's also common to use those historical data to estimate suppliers'possible performance about on-time delivery. Making a proper decision for choosing good suppliers is one of a key factor to success for an enterprise. Through a good partnership with the suppliers, a company can improve the competitive ability remarkably. The assessment to the suppliers is an important method to improve the supply chain, through periodic assessment, the enterprise can eliminate the unqualified supplier and simultaneously encourage the excellent ones, and then a good "cycle"of supplying can be set up. Delivery management is always a serious problem to the purchaser -----too long lead time and unstable delivery can cause difficulty for production scheduling in purchase side, if the production scheduling can not be carried out on time and the quality of the products is unstable, the purchase side can loose the good market opportunity which can cause reputation problem for them. This article is based on the actual situation of the company which the author works for, combined with supply chain management ideology and achievement of other scholar, a full set of supplier choosing and assessment system which is in conformity with the company development is set up; also the author makes deeply study for supplier delivery issue, analyzes the reason, and then summarizes the relative and correct improvement action plan.
