Controversial Business Conduct "the Impact On The Quality And Performance Of Supply Chain Relationships

With the trend of globalization and informatization, enterprises are running business in a highly changeable environment and have to deal with fierce competitions. So, the traditional way of management called "vertical integration" has been becoming more and more unfitful to the new business environment. Competition in the market will not be the competition among corporations any more, but the competition among the supply chains, which the essential is the cooperation between the members of supply chain. Therefore, the cooperation relationship between the members will be the key to success of supply chain strategic.This research focuses on the relationship quality of supply chain's members in the FMCG industry. There were lots of literature on relationship quality based on the relationship marketing view, however, this research gives another view on relationship quality based on supply chain knowledge. Though many scholars have argued the opportunism actions will bring negative effect on the management of supply chain, little empirical research had been done to measure how exactly the opportunism actions will influence the relationship quality and the SC performance. This research gives some empirical evidence about what is the relationship between the occurrence of "Questionable Business Practices", one type of opportunism practices, and the SC relationship quality. Besides, the relationship between SC relationship quality and SC performance has been discussed. Then, the research goes deeper, giving some evidence on the negative impact of the occurrence of questionable business practices have on the SC performance in order to give some theory support for the logistics managers.
