Following the 2008 financial crisis, the global economic situation and economic structure have changed profoundly, and the deep-seated impacts of the crisis still exist.The western developed economies including the U.S. have suffered economic recession, while the developing countries headed by China have been making more and more contribution to the global economy. The change of the economic situation brought by the crisis has given developing countries a good opportunity to get deeply involved in the governance of the global economy. Given this new picture of the global economic situation, China put forward “the Belt and Road Initiative” and initiated the establishment of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The goal of AIIB is to gather the resources of Asian countries to help build a more efficient network and make more substantial developments for each side.“The Belt and Road Initiative” is put forward following the trends of global multipolarity, economic globalization, cultural diversity and social informatization.This Initiative aims to reinforce the cooperation and promote the development of regional economy. Under this Initiative, the role of AIIB is an inter-governmental institution of Asian regional multilateral exploitation, which focuses on infrastructure construction in Asian area. The establishment of AIIB helps finance the projects of infrastructure construction spread over “the Belt and Road Initiative”. The financing provided by AIIB will become a big support, and will secure a smooth layout of “the Belt and Road Initiative”.This paper starts from an outline of AIIB and “the Belt and Road Initiative”, followed by an analysis of the significance, the main fields, the key routes and key countries and the major risks and policy suggestions regarding AIIB’s support on “the Belt and Road Initiative”, based on the background information and development history of AIIB and “the Belt and Road Initiative”.This paper holds the view that: The joint operations of AIIB and “the Belt and Road Initiative” has great significance, and will promote the development of China’s economy, enhance the cooperation of China and countries along the line and help the formation of a just and rational global economy order. AIIB serves “the Belt and Road Initiative” in different aspects including investment, trade and currency. The joint operations mainly cover Russia, Pakistan and the countries in Southeastern and Middle Asia.
