A Study On The Impact Of Labor Mobility On Income Gap

Since the reform and opening up, our country appeared large-scale labor mobility with the rapid development. This is due to the income gap, and which in turn affects the income gap. Since entering the new century, there are many problems of labor mobility and income distribution field, which affect the sustainable development of society and economy. Therefore, the impact of labor mobility on the income gap, has an important strategic significance for the sustainable development of China’s economy.This article absorbs labor market segmentation theory, dual-economy theory and spatial economics theory, using the China general social survey 2012 data, making an empirical research on the complex impact of labor mobility on income gap from two dimensions of rural-urban and region in recent China.This paper includes following five parts.The first part is introduction, expounds the research background and significance, defines the concept of labor mobility and income gap, introduce the general content of this study.The second part is the literature review, includes theories of labor mobility and researches on income gap and labor mobility, in order to lay the theoretical foundation.The third part using macrodata and microdata, studys on the labor mobility and income gap history, current situation and their relation, summarizes five characteristics of labor mobility and income gap, showing the realistic background of studying the effects of labor mobility on income gap.The fourth part using Chinese general social survey data, empirical analyze on effect of labor mobility on income gap. The effect of labor mobility on income gap include three points: Firstly, labor mobility can reduce about half of the income gap; Secondly, the rural-urban migrant labor force is difficult getting local wage, under the same conditions, there is an difference of average 4367 yuan of annual working income; Thirdly, education gap caused the mobility of income gap, according to regression analysis result, difference of education per year can directly cause an annual income difference on average of nearly 2000 yuan, the indirect effect is more huge and complex.The fifth part includes five policy suggestions on the problem of labor mobility and income gap, future research direction was also discussed.
