As people pay more attention to environmental protection and accelerate the pace of urbanization in China, natural gas demand is gradually increasing At present, China has become the world’s third largest consumer of natural gas. However, once the energy structure is not reasonable, natural gas consumption accounted for only about 5.4%, far below the world average of 24.1%.China’s natural gas market has great development space, increase of natural gas demand will stimulate the flow of natural gas, natural gas supply chain is particularly important for the healthy and orderly operation of natural gas supply chain, optimization be imperative.In this paper, the VMI management is introduced to the natural gas supply chain, under the VMI model to explore the natural gas supply chain inventory and transportation integrated optimization problem based on. First, discuss the concept, the problem of inventory and transportation integrated optimization and implementation process, and multi angle analysis. Then, introduces the current situation of China’s natural gas market, including natural gas storage, distribution and consumption and other aspects of the situation, focuses on the natural gas market in Sichuan and Chongqing area inventory and distribution status and existing problems. On this basis, compared the optimization model under the mode of VMI natural gas supply chain inventory and transportation of natural gas and the traditional supply chain, establishes a model of inventory and transportation integrated optimization problem with replenishment lead time under the VMI contract obtained by numerical simulation, and the need to maintain the stability of the long-run average cost implementation strategies to reduce natural gas supply chain.Selection of natural gas market in Sichuan and Chongqing area as the research background, constructs the inventory transportation integrated optimization model of natural gas supply chain based on VMI model. And the selection of historical data of Southwest Petroleum Company as a reference, modeling and simulation, the results of long-term implementation strategy can reduce the total cost of the supply chain stability. Meanwhile, under the mode of VMI management mode of natural gas supply chain day can effectively slow gas supply and demand gap and load, reduce the "bullwhip effect", therefore, it has certain theoretical value and practical significance of this study.
