This thesis is concerned with two important problems in Shanghai Brose's supply chain, namely optimization of Shanghai Brose's supply chain processes and optimization of transportation. Based on detailed description of the structure and characteristics of Shanghai Brose's supply chain, the thesis analyzes the major problems in the supply chain and develops the solutions to the problems using the theory and methods of supply chain management.First, we analyze the supply chain process for imported components, propose an optimized new process; furthermore, we calculate the optimal safety stock level using mathematical models, to reduce the inventory level as well as the leadtime of the supply chain.Second, through the detailed analysis of the project for optimizing transportation in the supply chain currently being implemented, we noticed that the potential benefits that may be brought by modern logistics management and identify the major problems in the project. Then we develop a mathematical model to optimize the transportation logistics.The research results in the thesis provide a good reference for managing Shanghai Brose's supply chain and for managing supply chains in other similar manufacturing companies. |
