Yunnan University Research Management Information System Analysis And Design

Scientific research is one of the three important functionalities of contemporary universities. In the National Guideline on Medium- and Long-Term Program for Science and Technology Development, it is pointed out that universities are the important foundation of high-level innovative talents, one of the main forces of research on foundation and high technologies, and the new force for critical technical problems, technology transformation and fruit change. In the process of the 11th Five-Year Plan, the number and the foundation line have been increase dramatically wuth the increase of attention and the research of scientific investment. Therefore, the amount of research information has been increase dramatically. The measures for enhancing the management of research information, improving the quality of information management, decreasing the management cost, and obtaining the optimal profits are the critical challenge confronted to managing departments of research work in universities. By adopting modern technologies or measures of information management, the research information can be managed accurately and efficiently. This correspondingly guarantees that the managing department can pay more attention into the research programming, and also can provide some quantitative basis for feasible research decisions.In this thesis, we aim to the management information system for the research management of Yunnan University. In line with the practical requirements of the research management of Yunnan University, we analyze the business process and functions according to the life cycle of software development and project management. The main purpose of this thesis is to finish the design of main functions of managing research projects and research findings and statistic reports. The management of research projects covers the whole process of application, establishment, foundations, progress management, and verification. The management of research findings includes the application, audit and identification of the papers, manuals, patents and software copyrights. Then, we can implement the effective and thorough supervision of the Web information, research progress and results of research foundations.Our system establishes a novel networking official-automation environment by substituting the classical paper-based management. This makes the repetition of researchers and managers be decreased greatly. The efficiency and data accuracy can be improved greatly, since all the research information can be input once but used forever. At the same time, our system not only can provide some useful data for obtaining the work of each researcher for various-level departments, but also provide some useful accurate and instantaneous research information of each school and the whole university. Thus, some useful basis of decisions can be provided to the deans of various-level departments in the university.
