RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication and it is a dialect of XML.All RSS files must conform to XML specification. People can get information that released by RSS efficiently, and can get news without disturbing rubbish information.Freescale MCF5253EVB is used as hardware platform in the design of RSS reader, andμCLinux is used as the operating system.The design of graphic user interface (GUI) is based on Microwindows and FLNX.The main tasks are listed below:First, the specifications of XML and RSS are researched in detail, and the message structure of HTTP protocol is also studied in depth. At the same time, all kinds of embedded GUI and the features of them are compared with each other.The hardware platform is also analysed.Second, the RSS reader is devided into three parts, the parser module, the GUI module and the network module.And the funtion of the RSS reader is realized with the help of the three modules.The main function of the RSS reader is to visit the preset channels, add the RSS channel, visit the RSS channel by URL, visit the RSS channel by favorite menu, search for information by keywords, and so on.At last,the function of RSS reader is tested.It is tested by three modules first.The parser module,the GUI module and the network module are all tested.Then,the RSS reader is tested as whole.The result of test proves that the function of RSS reader is realized.At last,some problems of design and suggestions are gived.
