Short-wave frequency-hopping communication technology, as one kind of wireless communication technology, has distinctive features because of its excellence in long distance communication, anti-jamming capability etc and it has been applied to military communications in which high stability and security is needed. The short-wave frequency-hopping communication system is consist of RF, channel machine, terminal and baseband processor which is the essence. In order to provide a stable and reliable hardware platform for the baseband processor, this paper proposed a DSP+FPGA architecture which is constituted by DSP and FPGA chips which had strong flexibility, versatility, powerful processing capacity and integrated rich resource, and can achieve complicated algorithms and the real time transmission and processing of large amounts of data. According to the actual needs of the present research, combined with the CHESS system model, the hardware platform is carefully designed and the chips related are seriously selected. In data transmission aspect, we choose the RapidIO means. RapidIO is a packet based, background operation data transmission method, it's application not only greatly increase the data transmission rates but also save a lot costs in system control aspect because of its background operation model and then hence the system efficiency. Through the debugging and performance testing of the self-staring, DSP peripherals, RapidIO interface and interrupt, the platform can performance very well, then it can be a stable and reliable one for the baseband processor, and because the platform has good versatility, it also provides a good foundation for related issues, and reduce the time to market.The first chapter briefly describes universal chip and high-speed data transmission technology and short-wave frequency-hopping technology; the second chapter designs a short-wave frequency-hopping system, according to the actual performance requirements, the key chips are selected and used to construct the hardware platform; the third chapter is debugging and testing the platform, including self-staring, DSP configuration, implementation of the RapidIO interface etc and ultimately make the platform to be a normal, stable one; the forth chapter do a serial tests for the hadware platform and verify that the platform is feasible and stable, providing the short-wave frequency-hopping system a reliable hardware platform; The final chapter is a summary of this article, and the next step of the research is also pointed out.
