RFID is a new type of automatic identification technology. Following the development of science, RFID is also developing very fast, which has already been widely used in our lives, making great contributions to many fields such as logistics industry and transportation. A Radio Frequency Identification system is consisted of readers, tags and data managing systems. In production chains in China, many researches have been placed on Low Frequency RFID system and this result in the industrilized application of the LF RFID system. However, as the development of Internet of Things, UHF RFID system is attracting more attention for its huge storage capacity and long reading range. There are already some UHF RFID products on overseas markets, but in China research in this field is starting from scratch, which is therefore highly significant. For passive RFID tag chip, the power recovery circuit is a core module. It consists of rectifier and regulator, whose performances directly determine the reading range and stability of the tag. This assertion introduces the typical structure of the circuits and specifically analyzes the working principle and application environment, based on which I have proposed the design structure. The design of rectifier and regulator for passive UHF RFID tag IC is presented. This regulator circuit has low dropout voltage and low quiescent current. The rectifier circuit can work on the whole frequency range:860MHz~960MHz and possesses the advantages of high efficiency. The circuit is designed with TSMC 0.18μm CMOS process, and verified by been taped out in the MPW project. Some results simulated in Spectre are presented.
