Along with the gradual advancement of electronic vacuum technology in our daily life, military-industrial development, the performance of traveling wave tubes have become increasingly demanding. In a number of related industries, the traveling-wave tube as a microwave source and microwave signal amplifier has a very important position. With modern satellite communications, space communications and other technology, the rapid development makes the design of TWT higher demands, and now traveling wave tube technology toward the long-life, high reliability, miniaturization direction.High-power, high gain, wide bandwidth and long life of the modern high-power traveling wave tubes of the four characteristics, it has been widely applied to civilian industry and military focus project, known as the weapons and equipment of the "heart." As the traveling wave tube high-frequency and high power and some other merits, the current number of civilian industry and military industries have yet to find other devices instead. Traveling wave tube electron gun is a basic component in the TWT electron beam is generated by the electron gun, electron gun and therefore the study has very important significance. As the traveling wave tube structure of the complex and to require very high processing precision, if passed, designers fail, will cause material and financial resources, a huge waste of human resources, so now the traveling wave tube design of the large scale introduction of computer simulation technology, computer Simulation technology can be applied to traveling wave tube design of each session, and can test the reliability of traveling wave tube design of the degree. Computer simulation has many advantages, not only can save labor costs, but also significantly reduce the traveling wave tube designed for the cost of capital. The main work of this paper is to make use of large general-purpose finite element software ANSYS for thermal analysis of traveling wave tubes, dynamic modal analysis and secondary development of the software to facilitate the designers to use.This paper introduces the use of ANSYS simulation of electron gun structure, and conducted a thermal analysis and modal analysis, and describes the specific methods and steps, combined with the other side of Beijing Electronics drawings provided by the model and experimental data, using ANSYS software, thermal steady-state analysis, simulate the temperature distribution of the electron gun cloud and thermal deformation map, with the experimental measurement grid and the cathode out of the center components such as temperature, comparing the data obtained traveling wave tube electron gun designed for the reliability of the conclusions.The text to draw the conclusions of the reliability of the electron gun model, the use of ANSYS software for use on the traveling wave tube electron gun the dynamic modal analysis of electron gun has been the natural frequency and vibration mode of expression of the results. The results clearly show the inherent electron gun vibration frequencies and mode shapes, designers can use this result as a reference, to improve the structural design of electron gun in order to improve the reliability of TWT.The Paper also went to the traveling wave tube electron gun thermal transient analysis, set the temperature and the cathode heating power grid, due to gate control is the work in the pulse state, to achieve the analysis of different width, different duty cycle, the within a certain period of time grid center temperature versus time curve, and thermal deformation versus time curve. Can be used to guide the design of traveling wave tube parts staff understanding of performance parameters to improve the structural design of electron gun to improve the reliability of TWT.In this paper, ANSYS was secondary development, the formation of a dedicated "E-Gun Analysis System" software. The software running in the ANSYS environment, the entire Chinese language interface in operation, with easy to use features, and to ensure that sufficient computational accuracy. Therefore, this secondary development of a dedicated ANSYS software can help designers to modify the size of the electron gun structure, and to improve the reliability of the electron gun and saves the designer time.
