Xichang College Teaching Integrated Management System Design And Implementation

With the rapid development of computer technology and internet, education management system is continuously changing and perfecting. Xi Chang College introduced a teaching management system from Sichuan science and Technology University in 2004, and this system has played a very important role in the teaching management in recent two years. However, this system can't meet the needs of teaching management with the deepening of reform of teaching in our college. So we developed this"Xichang College integrated teaching management system"in 2008.This system uses C/S structure and B/S structure, a combination of models to meet the educational management system users'needs to process large volumes of data. C/S mode can improve the efficiency, ease the burden of the network, and is also safer. This system has a central database server, and each user can access the database through the college network. The B/S mode is used for some modules, such as online course-selection and score enquiry, and users can operate through a browser. With the B/S mode, only a Web program needs to be developed, which is stored on the Web server, and only a standard, easily-used browser is needed. Thus, many special setups and software installations on users'computers can be greatly reduced, and all the work can be done on the Web server instead of on users'computers, which simplifies our work and lowers down the cost. This mode not only decreases the cost and design circle of the system programming, but also guarantees the security of the critical data, the fast, easy, simple, and convenient operation, and a better interaction of the system. After a time of uses, the system has produced good results, and it has received good evaluations from users, because it can speed up the data processing and increase the data processing volume, and realize a networking management for all departments.This paper offered a detail analysis of"Xichang College integrated teaching management system". This system can accomplish the following functions: Teaching plan Management, Students Management, Performance Management, Course-setting Management, Course-choosing Management, Examination Management, Teaching materials Management, Graduates Management and System Maintenance. In the course of the system development, I accomplished the following tasks:1. Conducted a mode analysis of the whole teaching management system and determined the developing principles for the system.2. Conducted a specific analysis of the module of students'online course-selection, accomplished the designing and implementating of students'logging verification, common courses selection and specialized courses selection.3. Designed the testing methods and testing cases for the system, and controlled the implementation of the whole testing work.
