Grass-roots Public Security Information System Design

The grass-roots units of China police are at the front line for the public security service, offering comprehensive services to the public. However, they lack effective information management systems which can share data via network, accelerate the transmission of information, to help the superior to make decision. Based on open standard protocols, intranet established network applications become an effective platform for users sharing or exchanging of information resources conveniently and efficiently on network and all kinds of work stations or clients.In this thesis, the author describes the design and operation of the management information system for the grass-roots unit of China police. This security information system was build in accordance with the relevant requirements, meets the basic needs of the grass-root unit for public security operations. After detailed research and design, the construction utilize of information for various application purposes. From scientific and practical point of view, the use of software engineering method to analyze and design of the information management system is very effective. The system meets the grass-root unit need of high-speed exchanging and sharing of information, improves the efficiency of the unit.In this thesis, the author first analyzed the B/S system architecture based on the Intranet. And then, he introduced the methods of implement the data inquiry and statistics analysis. After that, he analyzed the business process in depth, modeled the system by using object-oriented modeling technology. He used the software engineer method to refine the Browser/Server architecture of the network communication, complete the analysis and design of the database module and the business process module of the information system. Finally, a management information system for the grass roots Public Security department was developed in PowerBuilder and Visual InterDev based on the B/S structure of the Intranet network environments.The system has particular Industry feature. The system design is based on the work of police grass-roots unit and in line with modern management concept which meets the modern scientific requirements, so the system maintenance is easy. Furthermore, the design of this system is based on the modem MIS theory, thus it can be considered some significance for the development of Public Security management information system.
