Sports journalism is a delicate "Field" of contemporary journalism:on the one hand, it is far away from politics and ideology, and was considered to have more space for maneuver and autonomy; on the other hand, competitive sport itself is related closely to the state, the nation, so sports news production should be always affected by the two kinds of power mentioned above. The Whole Nation Training System of Chinese sports, is a product of the planned economy era, set in the sixties of last century and remains to be adopted today. Comments to this system from society have always been mixed.Bourdieu's Field Theory describes the power structure and struggling relations in social space. He applied the theory to study media, and had developed the formation of "media field" paradigm. In this paper, "media field" theory is taken as paradigm; news about the Whole Nation Training System on Chinese newspapers are analyzed, to reveal the change of power structure in the "sports journalism field" within the era of evolution; and thus explore the interactive relation between sports news production and development of society.Three chapters describe three time periods:1949-1979,1980-2006, 2007-2009; and three sections of every chapter describe respectively the general features of sports journalism, "Whole Nation Training System landscape" presented by newspapers, and power structure of sports journalism field in the corresponding periods. The research found that the "Whole Nation Training System" were "shield and praised," "questioned and criticized," "upheld and improved" by newspapers respectively during the three periods, which reflects the flow change of power structure and balance in sports journalism field.
