With the rapid development of modern science and technology, the computer technology has permeated the research of various disciplines. Virtual surgery is a combination of computer technology and medicine. It include medical surgery, graphics, virtual reality, sensor, artificial intelligence and human-computer-interaction, etc. Research of virtual surgery includes model reconstruction, collision, soft-tissue deformation, soft-tissue cutting, force feedback, and reality rendering. Soft-tissue deformation is a key part of virtual surgery research.This paper will research soft tissue deformation. Soft tissue deformation is divided into three parts, the first, deformation pretreatment, and second deformation calculation, third, deformation mapping results. This paper discussed soft-tissue deformation research. First, the comparison and analysis between mass-spring method and finite element model method is presented, and we provided the opinion on their characteristic and scope of application by experiment. Secondly, a random-function-based force point searching method is presented to move the force point to the nearest vertex during the preprocessing of deformation. Finally, an area matching based force point searching method is applied to solve the force point location problems caused by flat-form model.
