Following the globalization and the information age,the city has been involved in a highly competitive, highlighting the personality of the overall situation. Resources, talents and capital of the city, breaking the previous distribution, and make unprecedented exchange.This also indicates it will become urgent task for each city that to mold and spread the distinguishing feature image of city and draw on different kinds of resources gathering. Particularly in the modern era, network medium has a thousand and one links with the city image dissemination with its strong universal noodles and influence. Therefore, it has bigger realistic meaning that to research the city image presenting in the network medium and optimize the dissemination of city image with medium report.This dissertation clarifies the foundation concept, characteristic and content of city image, and from the angle of communication theories, it analyzes the relative network and important link of city image dissemination, and the role function of network medium. In the meantime, taking the Sina Net as sample, this thesis makes use of a content analysis method and studies the molding and spreading of city image within the visual field.The demonstration analysis of 6 months "Sina Net" city news report in 2009 is a key point, in its "Everyplace News", this dissertation takes quantitative and qualitative methods to comb city report, especially analyzes the medium characteristic in Xi'an, and it results in four regulations of city image dissemination in thus:1, The degree that network medium concern about city proportionate to the city comprehensive strength; 2, Medium pay more attention to the report of Xi'an "Government Image" and " Techno-culture Image"; 3, The report inclination involving Xi'an is more negative, it would guide the audience to format bad impression easily.4, The report sources of network medium distribute not evenly, and the majority of information come from local medium. Therefore, the subject choice and report inclination of local medium could influence the city image dissemination. In conclusion, aiming at how local medium optimize the city image dissemination and taking Xi'an as an example, the thesis put forward some possible suggestions. For example, change the idea to set up city brand consciousness, look for many and dynamic ways to news report, and ask for help of the distinguishing feature activity etc. Consequently, that the research on city image molding and spreading in network medium is of great significance to current urban development in our country, the thesis hopes to discuss the countermeasure of optimization city image tentatively from the communication theories. We need the governments, media and the public together with the efforts.
