Optical character recognition (OCR) is an important branch of pattern recognition technology, the OCR system gets document images,by the camera or the scanner.,from books as the input eventually converts them into digital text message that can be recognized by the computer.In this paper, a new solution of the OCR system based on the PXA270 processor is proposed, generally it meets the requirements of the assisted reader in the portability and the simplification of the operation.In this paper,the study includes:Firstly,discusses the functional design of the embedded OCR system,which is based on the PXA270 processor, using the camera as the system input, with a keyborad as the human-computer interaction,and the OCR results can be displayed.Secondly, introduces the system's hardware design, that includes the image acquisition module, the operating buttons module, the peripheral board and the core board.Thirdly, discusses the building-up of the Windows CE.Net 6.0 software platform. Finally, discusses the system's software design,that focuses on the document image's binarization, the detection of the image's slope angle and the correction, and the OCR system's realization on the embedded platform.The embedded OCR system,realized in this paper,can adapt the different document image condition,and can automatically correct the inclining image.The accuracy of the recognition result is high, and this article does some explorations to achieve the portability and miniaturization of the OCR equipment.Now it is already applied in the development of the intelligence blind reader. With the embedded technology and the OCR technology's development, the OCR equipment will be more mature, and will be widely applied.
