Counterfeit money will disturb of the orderly functioning of the social economy and the principle of good faith, which makes the economy of the state unstable. Nowadays, a popular and practical way to identify the counterfeit money is the digital identification. The advantage of this way is that it can identify the new counterfeit money by only upgrading the software. The article discusses a solution to collcet and process the serial number of RMB picture, which is the foundation of identifying the counterfeit money, as well as the software design.After analyzing the performance required by the system, the FPGA and DSP architecture is applied. First of all, the whole design of the hardware is introduced. Then the system is divided into three parts-the image grabbing module, the image processing module and the image storage module. The hardware design of every module is analyzed.Image preprocessing is applied before identifying the serial number of the RMB. It includes denoising, correcting the position, cutting the image with the serial number, and binarization. The arithmetic and the result are listed below. the test results is discussed in the concluding section of this chapter.In the end of the article, the job that I've done is summarized and insufficient and improvement points are presented.
