This paper analyzes the development and current situation of domestic and foreign vehicle detecting,designed based on this stage, the most widely used second-generation On-Broad Diagnostic System II(OBD-II) of the portable fault diagnosis device for vehicles. The device via a dedicated protocol conversion chip TL718 connect OBD-II system to read fault codes and other data among the information stored in the car, and sent to ARM2410X, procesing and analysising the data, display and transmit to the remote computer through GPRS.Papers around design and realization of the core module of the vehicle fault diagnosis device start the study. First of all, through understanding of OBD-II work,Paper designed the overall framework of the device, then the hardware section describes fault diagnosis device architecture and major external circuit design, software section describes the system software development environment construction based on embedded Linux, including the transplant of embedded Linux,display interface design, and design the device key module of the software, the final simulation to debug the device in all the key modules.The results of this research has great practical significance for the automotive fault detection and a certain reference value.
