This paper applied synthetically the theories and technologys of computer graphics, software engineering, interactive, AutoCAD secondary development etc. The author made a deep and careful research on several problems of urban rail traffic alignment design, such as horizontal alignment model, station and auxiliary line CAD method, vertical alignment interactive design etc, and developed some related softwares on this basis. The chief research contents and achievements were summarized as follows:1)Horizontal alignment model was built to sovle urban rail traffic alignment design and calculation , and the alignment dynamic visual design was realized.2)Station position design of all kinds of stype is realized by customizing station entity and considering the relationship of station and alignment. It can keep interaction with horizontal alignment very well, it realized the consist of site profile and alignment, the auto calculation of chain breaking by station etc.3) The general auxiliary line design algorithm combinated by element method and module method was presented, and the plane construction arragement of some common auxiliary line is modularized , which can well realize the auxiliary line design, such as double turn back line, storage siding, shorten transition line etc. Meanwhile ,element method based on line-based structure was applyed, which can realize any form of auxiliary line and make up the shortcomings of relatively fixed form, difficult to modify of the module method.4) Slope line entity was customized, dynamic design and violation suggest of slope line design was realized. Pallet and dragging association technologies were used to make data input more conveniently.5) The urban rail route CAD software was developed based on the above mentioned theories and methods. And the software has been applied in many designs of metro and light rail engineering and has proved the soundness of those theories and methods by a large number of practices.
