Digital Beam Forming (DBF) technique has been widely researched in modern radar and communication systems. The paper introduces the digital beamforming algorithm and focus on the analysis of the linear constrained minimum variance (LCMV) algorithm. The LCMV algorithm based on DSP chips is designed and achieved.With the MATLAB software , LCMV algorithm is applied to the uniform linear antenna arrays with four and eight antennas, and the simulation results show that the algorithm can accurately identify the direction of the desired signal and control the interference signal effectively. The performance of system is influenced greatly by the phase errors, so calibrating the error is necessary in the actual system. The actual array steering vector of the desired signal is obtained using the recursive algorithm. The method reduces the sensitivity of the system to the phase errors. Simulations under a few different given errors demonstrate that the algorithm has better performance than other recursive beamformers, and has lower computational complexity. At last, the paper presents a program for beamformer that based on the LCMV algorithm. The LCMV algorithm and the recursive LCMV algorithm are implemented on the TMS320C6713 platform.
