The power divider is a very important microwave passive component which can divide and combine the power of signals. In many microwave circuits, the power divider has been applied to balance amplifier, balance mixer, antenna array and so on. It is generally acknowledged that a conventional Wilkinson power divider operates only at one designed frequency and its odd harmonics, it is not suitable for some dual-band or wideband operations. Recently, the dual-band or wideband power dividers are developed by many researchers. In this article, two novel dual-band power dividers and two novel wideband dividers are proposed, which all can satisfy the demand of dual-band or wideband in modern wireless communication systems.First of all, the impedance transformer and Wilkinson power divider are introduced briefly. Then, four kinds of power dividers are analyzed in the article, a dual-band power divider in two sections, a stub tapped branch-line dual-band power divider, an ultra-wideband(UWB) power divider and a 2-18GHz power divider. Based on the transmission line and microwave network theory, the formulas used to determine the design parameters are also given.Secondly, the microstrip power dividers are simulated and analyzed by the full wave analysis software. Then, the layouts of these dividers are designed and fabricated. Finally, the power dividers are measured by the vector network analysis. Good agreements between the simulated and measured results are obtained and verify the feasibility of the proposed power dividers.
