ARJ21-700 Advanced Regional Jet program is the 21st century newly developed airplane program having complete independent intellectual property rights. The type is designed by international advanced technology, which is not only the "Eleventh Five-Year" significant project, but also the key project which is decisive for sustainable development of China's aviation industry.The airplane program uses the collaborative work model of "Main Manufacture -supplier". The main manufacture provides the airplane level design requirements to suppliers, and then foreign suppliers develop system, hardware and software. They also need to deliver the software to main manufacture for system level integration tests, which is to validate and verification the system level requirements.Main manufacture not only need to provide specific software level configuration management requirements, but also needs to have the airplane level software management plan to ensure the delivered software is under appropriate CM control from the system requirements to high level software requirements, low level software requirements and code. It can affect the system integration test result and the special flight authorization/ Type Inspection Authorization and TC; it even can affect the airplane delivers. However, there is no successful experience that can be learned in China. It is difficult to have the international airplane level software management references, because of using the highly integrated and complex software design technique and the different program models. The research in this area is still in exploring phase. Therefore it is very necessary to make a plan for airplane level and software level configuration management.The thesis makes the software configuration management plan for the main manufacture according to the ARJ21-700 program trait by using the system safety analysis theory and configuration management theory. It provides plans for the airplane level software DAL, configuration item, identification, baseline, label, Two-form change control and configuration accounting. Also it gives a general plan for software level configuration management. The thesis especially researched the CM methodology for IMA software, software change control, software configuration status accounting. This plan has already been used in ARJ21-700 program. The use of airborne software configuration management plan has solved the problem that software does not under CM control during the system integration tests. It also has ensured the validity of test results and established a base for type certification.
