Digital Watermarking Technology Based On The Dunhuang Murals Discussion On The Copyright Protection Of Digital Images

World-renowned Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang is the world's cultural heritage. It is very important to protect the Mogao Grottoes, in particular, what information of the extremely valuable murals which need take the necessary measures to protect the integrity, its important value and significance. With modern digital technology, first capture fine and perfect murals image by digital photography, and then through digital processing, we can access huge of exquisite murals digital image. These images can be used for the protection, research, publications, exhibitions, and other applications.The copyright protection of the digital murals becomes an important issue along with convinience of the digital images application. The digital watermark is a new technology since 1990s, it can be embedded in the digital products sensible or not to determine the content ownership or primitivism, thus making digital watermark technology has become one hot spot of digital copyright research. Based on the analysis of the current digital watermark technology development and application, aiming at the characteristics of dunhuang frescoes, in this paper, we discuss various digital watermark technology especially wavelet transform (DWT) and discrete cosine transform (DCT). With Matlab environment, we realize and analyze a wavelet transform digital watermarking algorithm using the north wall of Cave 323 of Mogao Grottoes.Digital watermark is a major technological method to solve some application problem of the digital Dunhuang achievement. Recently, digital watermarking technology research developed rapidly and commercial applications has reached a certain level, through our research, we hope this is start of copyright protection of Dunhuang digital work.
