Adopting gravimetric method and mass spectrometry technology, the gas including in water vapor, oxygen and carbon dioxide permeability of packaging materials of OLED was measured in this paper.First the research background, significance and status of the project,as well as permeability measurement of packaging material for OLED in domestic and foreign was introduced.Second the permeability of packaging materials was investigated by gravimetric method. The principles of gravimetric method, the influence of various factors, design and equipment for measuring permeability were explained. The permeability of water vapor of PET film was measured and the test data was calculated and analyzed.Next the measuring principle of permeability of packaging material by mass spectrometry, the structure of the test system,and the matters including method of operation, data collection, calculation and analysis, needing attention in experiment were introduced. The test thin film samples were fabricated and the penetration rate of some films, such as PET, Ag, UV-curing adhesive and epoxy resin, for gases such as water vapor, CO2, O2 were tested. Then,the characteristic curve of permeability for all films was attained. The test data of the gravimetric method and mass spectrometry, as well as other results reported in the literature was basically consistent. This conclusion proves that the mass spectrometry for measuring gas permeability of OLED packaging materials is feasible and effective.Finally,a summing-up for research results and the next work for the project are given.
