The organic light-emitting diode(OLED) has many advantages such as low cost , all solid state, active emitting, low power consumption, high brightness, wide view angle, fast response, wide temperature range, can be fabricated on flexible substrates and so on, so it is considered as one of the next generation display techniques with brightest future. It is well known that short service life is crucial for industrialization of organic LED (OLED) displays. Developing high quality barrier packaging materials is the most direct and effective method for improving the life of OLED. How to accurately measure permeation rates of water vapor and oxygen through packaging materials is very important for developing high quality barrier packaging materials. According to this problem, researches of this paper are as follows:1. The research background of measuring permeation rates of gas through packaging materials of OLED, device packaging, failure mechanisms of OLED and significance of research were introduced briefly in this paper.2. The dissertation illustrated requirements of water vapor and oxygen through packaging materials for OLED, and described the current permeation measurement methods in detail, and analyze advantages and disadvantages of each method. Theory of measuring penetration rates of gas though OLED packaging materials by mass spectrometry was also introduced briefly in this paper.3. The dissertation introduced the principle of dynamic sampling method, and we used the system of dynamic sampling method measured permeation rates of water vapor and oxygen through PET film and O-ring film. The acceleration factor was discussed, and the measuring sensitivity of dynamic extraction sampling method was ascertained in this paper. The measuring sensitivity of water vapor measured by mass spectrum technology using static accumulation sampling method at the temperature of 20℃and relative humidity of 60 % can reach 6×10-6 g/m2·day. The methods of improving measuring sensitivity of dynamic extraction sampling method were proposed.4. Using static accumulation sampling method to measure permeation rates of gas through packaging materials was proposed in this paper, and the system of static ?accumulation sampling method was set up. We used this system measured permeation rates of water vapor and oxygen through PET film, and ascertained the measuring sensitivity of static accumulation sampling method. The measuring sensitivity of water vapor measured by mass spectrum technology using static accumulation sampling method at the temperature of 20℃and relative humidity of 60 % can reach 1×10-7 g/m2·day. The methods of improving measuring sensitivity of dynamic extraction sampling method were proposed.5. Illustrated the characteristics of dynamic sampling method and static accumulation sampling method, and compared with traditional measuring methods. Finally, this paper was summarized.
