CORBA is an important distributed object middleware technology, with the development of computer hardware and software technology, a large number of high-performance applications emerged continuously. At present, the research of CORBA has changed from basic functions problem to the performance problem of distributed application, it is a best proof of this transformation that OMG had released a high-performance architecture specification, which is CORBA/e, which is for distributed real-time and embedded environments, in 2006. As one of the CORBA services, Event Service provides a solution of decoupling or asynchronous communication between distributed applications. With the overall research direction of CORBA has transferred into the field of embedded of high-performance, the research and application of CORBA Event Service follows it. However, the Event Service specification from traditional CORBA specification is only for common areas, it doesn't support the embedded real-time applications. For this reason, some companies and organizations design and implement their own real-time Event Service, based on the research of CORBA specification, and expand the real-time feature on the traditional Event Service. On the basis of analysis of traditional Event Service and draw on the existing design ideas of real-time Event Service, the design and implementation of Event Service is based on the latest specification of CORBA/e, this Event Service is for embedded environment and it can meet the requirements of real-time applications. The Event Service in this paper tries to solve the problem in three aspects: First, for common areas, such as solve the problem of group communication which lack of filtering mechanism, to meet the reliability and robustness, etc.; Second, for embedded applications, such as to meet the customized and resources limitation, etc.; Third, for real-time applications, such as to meet the real-time and predictability, etc.;At the end of this paper, do a performance test of this embedded real-time CORBA Event Service. After testing and experiments, it shows that this embedded real-time CORBA Event Service meet the design objectives and the requirements of embedded real-time applications.
