Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is a wireless multi-hop network without pre-established infrastructure. According to the structure MANET can be sorted into two categories: flat and hierarchical.Networking in an Ad Hoc network is a difficult problem and has received a lot of attention. Many networking schemes have been proposed and studied. However, most of these have been studied when network is flat. This paper presents work of designing and implementing for large scale MANET where a hierarchical architecture with multi-frequency is preferred. Optimized and combined operations of clustering, hierarchical routing, mobility management, HOLSR(Hierarchical Optimum Link State Routing)routing protocol is proposed to reduce the control overhead and improves the scalability of the networks. Based on flat OLSR protocol, HOLSR is designed aiming to provide clustering, multi-level routing and member management in the hierarchical MANET.We analyze the routing protocols and Linux system, and design a method to implement this networking scheme on Linux system.Using this method, we accomplish the scheme implementation. We give the detailed design, including the function modules and their relations. We design the test cases based on the protocol standards, and test the implementation in Physical environments. The result of the test indicates the implementation has been soundly done.
