With developing of Internet and increasing of application,The number of IPv4 addresses face soon be depleted now.As a next generation Internet protocol,IPv6 protocol is being deployed step by step,and will eventually replaces IPv4 protocol which is widely employed in the Internet. IPv6 protocol inherits the advantages of IPv4 and can offer several new functions such as security and QoS.The most important improvement is its 128-bit address length. RIPng is to provide routing functionality for IPv6 network ,an important component of IPv6 network routing protocol.With the popularity of network applications at the same time, functional flexibility, the application of simple, cost-effective products will be popular. In addition the high professional router prices are prohibitive to many needs. it is a good idea for users looking for a cheaper cost, performance alternatives is necessary. Taking into account the Linux operating system superior network system functionality and micro-kernel design, supports a wide range of hardware platforms and open source code, The dissertation presents a IPv6 routing system based on embedded Linux , which has a compatible, scalable, portable and so on.The dissertation studies the development of Internet router technologies,based on IPv6 protocol analysis,and focuses on three issues in the area of IPv6 technology, router protocols and embedded Linux systems. Based on the analysis and research on the above-mentioned technical,The dissertation has given the router hardware and software platform to run.Accomplished RIPng routing protocol design and implementation based on the analysis of Zebra open source, Discussed the implementation of RIPng packet processing, routing table, routing updates, timer, access lists,route redistribute,etc. Discussed a command line interface design and implement and include command trees, command registration, command analysis and command execution.Also given the implement of command auto-complete, command history,command abbreviations. Finally using Chariot tools tested RIPng router function and performance.
