Research On RIPng For IPv6

With the rapid development of the Internet, it penetrates into all fields of social life. Obviously the IPv4 protocols are far to satisfy the developing network's requirements. So IPv6 developed.From the birth of IPv6 on, more attentions have been paid to all parts of IPv6 protocols , also more researches have been done. Routing Information Protocol for IPv6 (RIPng) is an important part in it.Firstly this paper briefly introduces two routing algorithm: Distance-Vector routing and Link-State routing. On the basis of comparing them, this paper mainly discusses the RIPng routing protocol. Express the basic mechanism, such as counting metric, operating routing table and route, also the message format and other specifications of the protocol.Secondly modularize the RIPng structure according to zebra0.94 whose codes are free and opened; write the script and configuration using"autoconf"and"automake"; compile and install RIPng with the help of compiler gcc and make .At last test some functions of RIPng protocols on the experiment bed like routing strategy, equal routing, redistribution and so on. And the results show that the parameters meet the requirement.
