In recent years,with the rapid development of computer and communication technology, notebook, mobile phone, PDA and other heterogeneous handheld devices have been integrated into our daily life. These heterogeneous devices take on different hardware and software environment, and user interface is from one device to another for transplantation, it is necessary to modify a lot of code, compile and test. Sometimes it can merely be re-developed. So call for a new technology to achieve the standardization of heterogeneous devices cross-platform interface development. To avoid repetitive development and efforts to enhance development efficiency.In order to solve the problem about heterogeneous interface development, this paper proposes a new thought of employing SVG to the applications of heterogeneous device interface in order to present a unified description of these heterogeneous devices interface. So as to achieve the standardization of heterogeneous devices cross-platform interface development.And develops a SVG-based interface development tool for heterogeneous devices (SHDIDT). Unlike with other, this paper focusing on different issues from the screen size. Using SVG features in automatic scaling and adaptive layout algorithm based on paging, solve the problem of the interface of Traditional development methodologies can not transplant as the screen sizes is different.This paper firstly raises the problems caused by traditional heterogeneous devices interface development, pointing out the causes of the problem and the corresponding solutions.Secondly, the presentationanalysis of the characteristic of SVG and its application, the unifying description of heterogeneous interface with SVG is analysed. Proposes a new thought of employing SVG to the applications of heterogeneous device interface in order to present a unified description of these heterogeneous devices interface. So as to achieve the standardization of heterogeneous devices cross-platform interface development. And using SVG features in automatic scaling to solve the problem of difference in screen sizes.Thirdly, in the light of the statement above, SVG-based interface development tool for heterogeneous device (SHDIDT) is designed and achieved. Based on a component-based Architecture of the statement, SHDIDT adopts the description of SVG technology, centering on the structure of the document-centric and data-driven. The interface design and development is carried out around the SVG SHDIDT can avoid the problem for different devices separately to develop the user interface so that it significantly reduces the workload of developers, and it enhances the efficiency of the interface development.Finally, serving for the study of verification, usability testing in the paper proves that SHDIDT has a high development efficiency and high availability to meet our design goal.
