Real-time Data Marts, The Design And Realization

With the coming of digital age,facing to amassof information,how to get the useful information rapidly and accurately to support management decision-making has become an momentous issue for many enterprises.Data Warehouse technology's naissance solved this problem from the level of tech.Real-Time Data Warehousing is a new trend of the Data Warehouse field. As the traditional Data Warehouse needs to spend a long time to calculate and load the source data,the frequence of refresh for this kind of Data Warehouse is almost by daily.With the development of business,the 'Real Time' analysis is more and more required by business.Through a real time data mart project,this paper introduced research results of the auther in Real-Time Datawarehousing field.The system architecture,relationship between several modules are analyzed and designed in detail.It also introduced SQL Server 2005 Integration Service (SSIS) andgusiness Objects platform.The project is implemented based on these platforms and the aurthor also tune the performance of SSIS package based on its characteristic.The paper is divided into 3 sections and 7 chapters.The 1^st section is made up of chapter 1,chapter 2.In the 1^st section,it introduces background of the paper,including the status of development of data warehouse technoiogy in the world and the trends of it.It also introduces the structure of the paper and the creative points.Then,it focuses on 'Real-Time Data Warehouse' concepts and briefly introduce SSIS and BO Xl.The 2^nd section is made up of chapter 3,chapter 4 and chapter 5.This section begins with the introduction of the project background,and then analyzes the requirements,researches the Real Time Datawarehouse technique,compares several solutions and designs each module.The 3^rd section is chapter 6,as the implementation part.The author selects a typical dimension programs as the example.The paper introduced a full cycle of the implementation for this package,including logical/physical design,implementation and performance running accorcling to the characteristic of SSIS platform.The last part is the conclusion part,it concluded above contents and make a clear picture to the readers.
