Tien Hsia Monthly was published in shanghai in August,1935 and stopped in September,1941, under the auspices of the Sun-Yat-sen Institute for the Advancement of Culture and Education. The chamber of the editor includes Wu Jingxiong, Wen Yuanning, Lin Yutang, Quan Zenggu, Yao Ke. This English magazine was a comprehensive culture periodicals, the aim of which was to explain the Chinese culture and arts to western countries, promote the mutual understanding between Chinese literature and western literature. The main columns of this magazine are critics, translations,chronicle and book review etc. This main contents of this paper is to introduce the general backgrounds of this magazine; analysis through the practice of editing this periodical which is on the promotion of Chinese literature and western literature, the author emphasized on the double-way interpretation in the context of Chinese literature and gave a comprehensive understanding on Chinese literature in their English context which can extent the relation factors between Chinese literature and western literature. Also introduce the foreigner writers's critics and translation on Chinese literature.
