SRD products are always one of the welcomed wireless communications in the world's consumer market. With the fast development of CMOS deep submicron technology, low cost and low power consumption CMOS fully integrated monolithic transceivers make sense for the scientific research and product developments. This thesis presents the function of transmitter, application background and performance definition from the point of system level. Then expatiate and compare four frequently-used architectures which are promising for single chip integration. Then design considerations are given after summarizing the characters of these architectures. Finally, some system specifications are shown after briefly describing the SRD communication standard EN300 220CN. After that, a low power, narrow band, output power controllable transmitter architecture will be proposed according to the system requirement. On the circuit level, this dissertation puts the emphasis on the idiographic circuit design, that is, the design of a low power, low cost, output power controllable PA. It begins with some basic knowledge, including classes of PA and their features, definition of spec, linearization techniques and output matching issues. Critical issues on how to design a PA will be summarized. The design feature and the transfer characteristic of drain-open amplify circuit will also be analyzed. Based on the basic knowledge, a low power consumption, low cost, output power controllable PA will be proposed and designed. What's more, a PLL adapted for this SRD system will be introduced in brief. The whole transmitter is implemented using chartered 0.35μm, double poly, 4 metallizations CMOS standard process, and integrated with receiver, digital baseband and ADC and etc. Test results show that the maximum output power is 4dBm and the total current consumption of transistor including PLL and PA is only 29mA. The adjacent channel power is -20dBm. Compared with system specifications, all the performance has satisfied system's requirements except the output power.
