There are a large number of integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing enterprises gathering in the Suzhou Industry Park. In IC production workshops, the flow of the gas is used to control a certain executive body in order to meet specific needs of a production line. Than, it is difficult to artificially open or close the gas values controlling the flow of the gas at the very accurate time. Therefore, the automatic gas values controlling is full of practical significance. The project is commissioned to develop by an IC manufacture in Suzhou Industry Park. Meanwhile, the project focuses on the actual demand of the IC production workshop and has developed a self-made automatic gas value controlling system, which has been installed into 186 sets of equipment on the production line and has operated stably for six months till Sep. 2008, and are highly praised by users.The core of gas valve controlling system hardwares is based on Freescale's MC68HC908GP32 micro-controller, which contains LED module (showing time), Switch module (setting time), Indicator module (indicating the current status of the system), Photoelectric Isolation and Relay Controlling module (operating the executive body) and Power Supply module. According to the user's functional requirements, the software part of the system, which is on the basis of internal modules, such as the completion of the MCU system initialization, the timer and on-line Flash programming etc, as well as external modules drivers such as nixie tube, button switch, indicator light and relay etc, which are designed for the primary control software. In order to facilitate the setting of parameters, the project has also completed the design of hand-held programmer, whose hardwares base on the core design of Freescale's MC68HC908LJ12 micro-controller, including LCD, Keys, and Communication etc. The programmer has been actually used to set the parameters.During the design of the system, the concept of hardware components in embedded software engineering is fully used. The design of hardware and software, that is in accordance with the hardware components, increases system maintainability and portability. The automatic restoration of power that is carried out by making full use of on-line Flash programming in the user mode improves system haleness. The achievement of the recovery from the flying of the procedure and the uninterrupted operation of the system that takes advantage of internal watchdog technology solving the problem of the flying procedure enhances system stability.
