The IP Metro Area Network (short as MAN) is each local extending of the ChinaNet. It is the bearing platform of local IP service such as the broadband services and narrow band services. For the telecommunication operators, nearly all IP service are turn on in the IP MAN.Follows the quickly developping of broadband services and IP technologies, the IP MAN grew up in few years. The existing IP MAN has mang questions, such sa the architecture is unreasonable, the equipment's function and performance is insufficient, the ability of access and management should be improved.This article analyze the present situation of Shanghai telecommunication IP MAN, Equipment's configuration, routing planning are performed. Further more, the existing network is optimized and combined with QoS deployment in the different layers for the quality of service. All the above measures are aimed to meet a variety of application demands and solving the problems of the telecomm service bearer in the current IP network.
