In order to improve the efficiency of warehouse, it is required to optimize the picking system and the storage policy so that we can reduce the inventory cost, decrease the travel transition time and raise the revenue.According to the fact that the researchers usually focus on the storage policy optimization of the automatic picking system, this paper presents a quantitative analysis of the storage policy effect on the manual picking system under a specific routing method and the relative assumptions, based on quantities of interrelated literatures.In this paper, we adopt a very typical layout in practice as the a basic assumption element. And the distance that an order picker has to traverse in order to finish picking task to fulfill a custom order is our decisive variable. To each storage policies, the paper presents an approximation model of the travel distance under S-shape picking method and Return picking method. In the latter sections, this paper carries out a series simulation tests. In these tests, we simulated different picking systems by modifying some parameters(i.e. the size of the picking list and the number of aisles ) of this simulation model. Base on simulation experiments, this paper evaluated each storage policy under specific routing method. Also, we check the validation of approximation model by the error between the approximation and the simulation results. |
