As the development of computer technology, the embedded system is becoming more and more important in people's daily life since the PC era. In the area of processor, the technique of ARM has occupied to be in the lead position in the embedded microprocessor realm and a lot of manufacturers are producing microprocessor chips based on ARM. In the area of embedded operating system, Linux is a widely used operating system and it can be running in on all major processor architectures, including ARM cores. The advantage of clear structure and open source makes Linux a very dynamic and fast moving operating system. The embedded technology based on ARM and embedded Linux has become a spot light of current embedded field.Although the portable printer has been used a lot in the realm of bill-printing, it is still has much potential in the realm of graph-printing. In the technical producting, there may be some important parameters should be strictly watched. If these parameters can be mapped in the coordinates system and printed, the engineers can easily figure out the change of these parameters. This thesis intends to build an embedded hardware and software developing platform based on ARM9 processor and Linux, and offers the solution which can extend some functional modules easily to the user. After that, the VMP01 PLUS portable printer is connected to the embedded system by serial port. The function of printing the coordinates system is extended by the design of software. The design of software is made up of the VMP01 PLUS driver and the application. The application is code for the function of printing the coordinates system. All these programmes can be transplanted in the platform and run in correctly.
