With the development of technology, more and more unmanned platforms are used in industrial and military fields. Unmanned platform usually includes three parts: management computer, field controller, communication network. The technology of field controller is researched in this paper. The robustness and survivability of common communication network is poor when the network is used in serious condition. The normal video surveillance system can not be used in some military hard real-time projects.Several subjects are studied in this paper in order to resolve these problems:(1) The communication network is divided into control network and surveillance network according to communication features. The two ones are constructed in accordance with their characteristics.(2) A dual ring redundant network based on CAN bus is designed through adopting dual ring network structure, automatic switching technology and store-and-forward technology, which are widely used in self-healing fiber ring communications. A multi-redundant network is constructed base the new dual ring redundant network and a wireless radio network.(3) A method is raised to resolve the real-time problem of control system through accurately calculating the delay of each frame in moniter video and then providing compesation to other parts of control system.(4) A complex GPS timing mothed is raised to accurately synchronize the clocks of all video surveillance stations .The multi-redundant network demonstrates better robustness and survivability in test experiments. The method of video surveillance delay calculation effectively improve the real-time performance of control system. The complex GPS timing method is high-precision and low cost, which is particularly suitable for field use.
